dc.description Abstract. According to the Directorate of Vocational Secondary Education (2003) the specific purpose of vocational schools is to prepare students to be independent in the world of work after graduation. The fact that occurs in students of SMK "X" Bandung in choosing and determining the majors and schools is determined by parents. Therefore, students are not free to choose and determine the departments and schools they are interested in and do not have regular study habits at home and school. The student shows negative classroom behavior such as chatting dan feeling bored in class. This behavior is related to student autonomy and student engagement. The theory used is Student Autonomy from Macaskill and Taylor (2010) in which there are two aspects, namely independence of learning and study habits. The student engagement theory of Fredrick (2004) includes three aspects, namely behavior, emotional, and cognitive engagement. In this study, there were 49 subjects who were determined using population studies. Measurement of student autonomy variables and student engagement based on Fredrick (2004) and Macaskill and Taylor (2010). This research is correlational research with quantitative methods. Based on the results of the study that there is a positive relationship that is quite close between student autonomy with student engagement on XI class of Bandung "X" Vocational High School, meaning when students do not have a habit of learning, students will not engaged in the classroom. Keywords: Student Autonomy, Student Engagement, Student SMK  Abstrak. Menurut Direktorat Pendidikan Menengah Kejuruan (2003) tujuan khusus SMK adalah menyiapkan siswa untuk mandiri dalam dunia pekerjaan setelah lulus nanti. Kenyataan yang terjadi di siswa SMK “X” Bandung dalam memilih dan menentukan jurusan dan sekolah ditentukan oleh orang tua. Oleh karena itu, siswa tidak bebas memilih dan menentukan jurusan dan sekolah yang diminati olehnya dan tidak memiliki kebiasaan belajar yang rutin di rumah dan sekolah. Siswa tersebut menunjukan perilaku di dalam kelas yang negative seperti mengobrol merasa bosan di dalam kelas. Perilaku tersebut berkaitan dengan student autonomy dan student engagement. Teori yang digunakan yaitu Student Autonomy dari Macaskill dan Taylor (2010) di dalamnya terdapat dua aspek yaitu, independence of learning dan study habits. Teori student engagement dari Fredrick (2004) di dalamnya terdapat tiga aspek yaitu, behavior, emotional, dan cognitive engagement. Pada penelitian ini subjek berjumlah 49 orang yang ditentukan menggunakan studi populasi. Pengukuran variabel student autonomy dan student engagement berdasarkan teori Fredrick (2004) dan Macaskill dan Taylor (2010). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasional dengan metode kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa adanya hubungan positif yang cukup erat student autonomy dengan student engagement kelas XI SMK “X” Bandung, artinya ketika siswa tidak memiliki kebiasan belajar sehingga siswa menunjukkan perilaku tidak terlibat di dalam kelas.Kata kunci: Siswa SMK, Student Autonomy, Student Engagement
