Abstract. The Relationship between Empathy and Altruism Behavior in Child Care Volunteers in the Sun Bear Community. Volunteers formed the sun bear community in 2010, founded by 10 old friends while in elementary school. Volunteers have the task of clarifying the importance of the spirit of learning and providing training (soft skills) with the aim of reinvigorating the spirit of learning and being able to optimize their abilities in orphanage children. When establishing the community, the ten volunteers displayed altruism behavior that is working with volunteer friends to care for the welfare of the orphanage children, giving time, effort and material to establish volunteer communities that care for children in voluntary orphanages. The behavior of voluntary altruism is driven by the empathy of volunteers to orphanage children. Individuals who have a high sense of empathy can behave altruism in their daily lives. This study aims to determine how closely the relationship between empathy and altruistic behavior in volunteers in the Sun Bear community. The hypothesis proposed is that the higher the empathy, the higher the behavior of altruism volunteers in the Sun Bear community. The research subjects in this study were thirty volunteers from the Sun Bear community. The measuring instrument in this study was to use an empathy questionnaire based on Davis's theory and altruism behavior which was arranged by researchers based on Mussen's theory. Analysis of the data that is used is Rank Spearman. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between empathy and altruism behavior which was shown by the correlation coefficient (r) of 0.554 with p = 0.077 (p <1)Keywords: Empathy, Altruism Behavior, Volunteers Abstrak. Hubungan antara Empati dengan Perilaku Altruisme pada Relawan Peduli Anak Panti Asuhan di Komunitas Beruang Matahari. Relawan membentuk komunitas beruang matahari pada tahun 2010, di dirikan oleh 10 orang teman lama ketika di Sekolah Dasar. Relawan memiliki tugas untuk menjelaskan mengenai pentingnya semangat belajar dan memberikan pelatihan (softskill) dengan tujuan untuk menanamkan kembali semangat belajar dan dapat mengoptimalkan kemampuan diri pada anak-anak pantia suhan. Ketika mendirikan komunitas, kesepuluh relawan ini menampilkan perilaku altruisme yaitu bekerjasama dengan teman-teman relawan untuk peduli terhadap kesejahteraan anak-anak panti asuhan, memberikan waktu, tenaga dan materi guna mendirikan komunitas relawan yang peduli terhadap anak di panti asuhan secara sukarela. Perilaku altruisme relawan didorong oleh empati relawan kepada anak-anak panti asuhan. Individu yang memiliki rasa empati yang tinggi mampu berperilaku altruisme dalam kesehariannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa erat hubungan antara empati dengan perilaku altruism pada relawan di komunitas Beruang Matahari. Hipotesis yang di ajukan adalah semakin tinggi empati maka semakin tinggi perilaku altruism relawan di komunitas Beruang Matahari. Subjek penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak tiga puluh orang relawan komunitas Beruang Matahari. Alat ukur dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan kuesioner empati berdasarkan teori Davis dan perilaku altruisme yang di susun peneliti berdasarkan teori Mussen. Analisis data yang di gunakan adalah Rank Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara empati dengan perilaku altruisme yang di tunjukan oleh nilai koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar 0,554 dengan p=0,077 (p<1).Kata Kunci: Empati, PerilakuAltruisme, Relawan |
