AbstrakKaries gigi terus menimbulkan masalah kesehatan masyarakat diseluruh dunia. World Health Organization (WHO) menekankan bahwa penyakit ini mempengaruhi sekitar 60-90% anak sekolah, sebagian besar orang dewasa, dan pada orang lanjut usia secara umumnya. Faktor utama yang menyebabkan terjadinya karies menurut Langlais, yaitu host (gigi), mikroorganisme, lingkungan dan waktu. Jika tidak ada interaksi antara keempat faktor tersebut, maka karies gigi tidak akan terjadi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mencari hubungan frekuensi dan waktu menggosok gigi dengan kejadian karies gigi. Penelitian ini merupakan observational analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional dan dianalisis dengan uji Fisher’s Exact Test. Data penelitian diperoleh dari hasil kuesioner yang tervalidasi dan pemeriksaan gigi kepada 73 santri di pesantren Manarul Huda yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Hasil penelitian analisis data hubungan frekuensi dengan kejadian karies gigi menunjukan nilai p=1.00, sedangkan analisis data hubungan waktu dengan kejadian karies gigi menunjukan nilai p=0.53 yang berarti keduanya tidak ada hubungan yang bermakna antara frekuensi dan waktu menggosok gigi dengan kejadian karies gigi. AbstractDental caries continues to cause health problems for people throughout the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that this disease affects around 60-90% of school children, mostly adults, and in the elderly. The main factor that causes caries according to Langlais, namely the host (teeth), microorganisms, environment and time. If there are no interactions between the four factors, dental caries will not occur. The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between the frequency and timing of brushing with the incidence of dental caries. This study is an analytical observational with cross-sectional approach and analyzed by the Fisher Exact Test. The research data was obtained from the results of validated questionnaires and dental examinations for 73 students in the Manarul Huda Islamic boarding school who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the data analysis of the frequency relationship with the incidence of dental caries showed a value of p = 1.00, while the data analysis of the relationship of time with the incidence of dental caries showed p = 0.53 which means that there was no significant relationship between the frequency and timing of brushing with dental caries. |
