Hubungan Fisioterapi dengan Kualitas Hidup Pasien Osteoarthritis Lutut di RSUD Dr. Soekardjo Kota Tasikmalaya Periode Maret– Agustus 2022

Abstract

Knee Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic musculoskeletal disorder, the worldwide’s major cause of pain and disability. This disease does not only have an impact on the physical, but affects other aspects such as mental, emotional, and social, so that it can ultimately reduce the quality of life of the knee OA patients. One of the treatment options that can be done is physiotherapy, with one of the goals is to improve the quality of life. The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationships between physiotherapy and quality of life of the knee OA patients in RSUD dr Soekardjo Tasikmalaya City. This research was conducted with analytic observational methods by cross-sectional approach. This research was conducted at RSUD dr Soekardjo Tasikmalaya City on 55 outpatients for the period March–August 2022 who were selected consecutively. The results of the univariate statistical test showed that 22 patients had physiotherapy and 33 patients did not have physiotherapy with the characteristics of 65% were female and 42% were aged ≥ 60 years. Patients filled out the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire, then bivariate analysis was performed with SPSS via the chi-square test. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between physiotherapy and the quality of life of patients with knee OA at RSUD dr. Soekardjo Tasikmalaya City (P=0.001). The conclusion of this research is that physiotherapy is related to the quality of life of patients with knee OA.
